The book can be condensed into two words: suspenseful and magical. Through every part of the story, the author makes sure to leave little crumbs that allow the readers to create theories in their heads about what could be going on and where it's going to lead. The magical elements are introduced tastefully and thoughtfully, their presence feeling believable inside the story and letting us play with the idea of bending time for greater purposes.

The fusion of medical and legal fiction with a touch of fantasy creates a unique and compelling backdrop for the story. Reilly seamlessly integrates these elements, ensuring that the scientific and magical aspects enhance the narrative rather than overpower it. The result is a seamless blend of genres that will captivate fans of thrillers, fantasy, and thought-provoking fiction alike.

"This story, Chasing Time, by Thomas Rielly takes the classic medical drama, historical fiction, sci-fi, and fantasy genres, and turns them all completely on their heads. The author mixes multiple premises and genres masterfully creating a dizzying, multilayered, and multifaceted story that pushes the plot, characters and action forward in what I found to one of the most interesting and creative ways I have come across in a long time.
I am extremely impressed by the multiple points story lines and points of history that are intertwined allowing the story to become dimensional and extremely well rounded. This one is a edge of your seat, hold on tight, adventure from beginning to end. The story that is full action, adventure, and most notably unique and fascinating characters all set against backdrop very realistic feeling medical drama background. And it is that medical and personal drama that allows all the more fantastical and sci-fi layers to exist.
I loved the emphasis on females and well fleshed out female characters. Also the lingering morals, reflections, and questions elevate this book to so much more than contemporaries.
At first, I couldn’t figure out if it was super realistic type of drama or a more historical fiction piece or just plain science fiction which added a super eerie fog type of vibe. And the book was written so well that it honestly could be categorized into many different genres. It was familiar enough, believable, and detailed in a way that the author gains your trust and connection to the characters and plot and hooks you in a way that you soon realize you are along for the ride.
It is all quite interesting because you really feel like you are being transported and experiencing another times in history, another reality, and fantasy based madness. Even though there are so many distinct characters, backgrounds, plot lines, historical references the author doesn’t skip a beat and beautifully and almost effortlessly creates stories with in a story.
I highly recommend. It’s a great book to add to your library. It’s sharp, precise, witty, and nothing like you have read before. It’s engaging, hard to put down, and full of really great writing. I love the set up, love the writing, love the characters, and the plot."

"This story gives me a really strong classic vibe. When I think about the books that I fell in love with as a child reading this one definitely puts me in that place. Ive been reading quite a bit lately and have come across some fantastic stories. However this one definitely touched a different part of me.
The author does an amazing job with the writing. I appreciate the detail and I just love it when a writer can make the characters easy to follow and understand without having to write absurdly redundant language. The way the characters interact comes off very genuine and realistic. Sometimes that aspect is hard for many writers to do ( in my opinion). To be able to make the story and characters flow well and seamlessly is something I appreciate when Im reading.
The plot of the story will reel you in and you will definitely enjoy reading it. This is one of those books that you sit in your reading room for or on a nice cozy chaise with a blanket and some hot chocolate.
One thing I tend to love about reading is how the story plays in my mind. I definitely felt like I was watching a real movie. The writer was able to convey the scenes and characters in a way that I got vivid pictures.
I don’t want to give anything away but the gift of the main character is an awesome part of the story and following him on his journey with his gift was very entertaining. This is a recommended read."

"Chasing Time by Thomas Reilly is a story about a man named Anthony “Tony” Lucas. The story starts with his childhood where he finds a magical key which foreshadows his future. He ends up losing the key, but many years later he comes upon it again. This key holds the clue to a cure that would eventually save his wife’s life.
Tony was a positive and curious kid who grew up, fell in love, and started a family. Along the way, his wife came down with an illness, and because he loved her so much, he vowed to do whatever he could to save her from dying too soon. He remembered the key and found his way to it. The key provided the information of a scientist who had the drug his wife needed so Tony tracked down the scientist and eventually was able to cure his wife.
Overall, this was a great read. I liked how much Tony loved his wife and did whatever he could to save her. I wasn’t sure she would make it, so I was rooting for him. Time wasn’t on his side. He was out and about researching and trying to reach the right people and it felt like he might never reach them, but I was relieved it all worked out. I was saddened when his wife needed him by her side, but he couldn’t be there. That really broke my heart.
This is a fast paced read with a lot of information, but it’s so worth it. Tony was a consistent character who you’ll become attached to. This was a very well written story."

"Chasing Time, by Anthony Reilly, is a fascinating story of suspense, romance, hope and renewal. Chasing Time is a short book of the fantasy genre packed with a mixture of sentiments. The story begins in 1905 with Lucius and Appia Antonius then merges into 1965 with Anthony Lucas’ eighth grade class opening the time capsule from 1905. Anthony, known as Tony, discovers yet another gift he possesses. His first gift is that of time, which has aided him many times in his young life. With the discovery from the time capsule, Tony is ready to take on a cure for a crippling disease.
Set in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, Reilly cleverly guides the reader from the youthful adventure of Tony Lucas’ young life to his adulthood. Reilly creates vivid images of the thoughts of a young man, so much so, the reader feels he or she knows Tony, and can relate to his experiences.
Reilly has a true grasp of dialogue. His character’s interactions are inexhaustible, spot on to the age of the main characters, and thought-provoking. Reilly also creates a quick pace, sense of suspense and action for the reader to keep turning pages. Will Tony’s cure for a crippling disease work?
What I found most intriguing were the interactions between Lucius, and Tony, and a disreputable character. Several times I wanted to yell for them not to fall for the scheme. Had one or both of them fallen for it? How were their lives affected?
I am giving Chasing Time, by Anthony Reilly, 5 out of 5 stars. I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about this book. The story captures the reader’s attention and takes them on a whirlwind adventure. The transition from 1905 to 1965, and again from Tony’s youth to his adulthood is done perfectly."
